BOOK PROJECT

Irish America: Our Stories

I established this project to preserve our ancestors’ stories in poetic and story forms–true tributes to our Irish heritage.

The book itself will include contributions from first to eighth-generation Irish-Americans. Authors will recount a story from his or her Irish ancestors and will describe how the story has influenced the author. Previously-unpublished authors are specifically encouraged to submit.

I am raising funds for this project over on Kickstarter.com (link forthcoming–currently awaiting approval). I am requesting $700 to fund the project. Most of the money will go to the authors, who will be paid upon the acceptance of their submissions.

If you are interested in submitting your story and would like to be notified when the project receives approval, please send an email to ceannfort@gmail.com with the subject BOOK SUBMISSION GUIDELINES. You will receive a message by the end of March, 2011. The book will contain 30-40 submissions based on length of accepted submissions.

The $700 will be distributed as follows: $400 – one-time payment upon acceptance for authors; $200 – to artist for cover and line art; $100 to editor for submission acceptance, online marketing, administrative time, interior layout.

Goal project completion date: March 17, 2012.
