I’ll be on assignment tomorrow again in Philly. It’s cold, but I’m up for it! It’s been a while–so here’s an update. After recovering from my sinus surgery, I changed my focus a bit, realizing inadvertently that I adore travel writing when the destination involves Philadelphia–my home city. I’ll also be writing locally about weddings, providing more restaurant reviews, and even venturing into real estate.
These are some great changes for me. The best thing about freelance writing is that you don’t (always/usually if you’re good at it) have to rely on bosses you don’t like working with and ‘content mills,’ as they are sometimes called. While I do enjoy writing for sites like Associated Content and Demand Studios, sticking to just one can get very repetitive very quickly! I really do like to skip around. Writing for anyone client over and over again can get pretty tedious. When I’m working personally with a client, I’m finding that I’ll write an article for Demand Studios just so that I can get a little break in. I think it keeps the creativity flowing a bit better.
I guess it’s all about mojo. Of course, going on assignment helps, too. A fresh, inspiring walk around the city is just the thing!
