Not age alone. But withstanding the test of time, and the trials that said ‘ritual’ withstanded have some bearing. That men who were around when said ritual was begun, were able to verify what they saw, pass it down, showing the truth of it to others who continue to pass it down. Certainly this has some bearing. Let’s take Christianity, for example. It started with twelve known men following one who performed signs and wonders. Those men all were murdered for having this faith. (Rare today to see someone who will die for what he believes), but they passed it on, and increased their numbers from tens, to thousands, to tens of thousands, to millions, and so on. All through persecution, trials and tribulations. I think it’s one of the main proofs that Christianity, especially Catholicism, is valid-because through everything the world has thrown at it (from without as well as within), it has survived and even flourished.
